Shingler, a redshirt junior, also has a 4.00 GPA, and has a dual major of biology and applied health science. Both were named to the Academic All-District Team on Nov. 4, with Dayton being named to the first team and Shingler earning second-team honors.
A native of Tucson, Ariz., Dayton has played BGSU's first 21 matches this season, making 17 starts, before missing the last three contests due to injury. Primarily a defender, she picked up two assists this year, coming in wins over Duquesne and Cleveland State. Dayton, who was named the Falcons' Most Valuable defender for the 2003 season after moving to the back line from her forward spot midway through last season, has 12 career points on a pair of goals and eight assists. She has played in 64 career contests, having made 44 starts.
Shingler, a native of Grove City, Ohio, recently completed her second season as the Falcons' starting goalkeeper. She started 21 matches this year, and had 111 saves and a goals-against average of 1.45. Shingler's seasonal GAA is third-lowest in school history. Her five complete-match shutouts this season place second on the BGSU list, and bring her career total to nine, also the second-highest total in school annals. She was named to the Soccer Buzz National Elite Team of the Week after recording a total of 28 saves in the Falcons' three MAC Tournament wins.
