Falcons Capture All-Ohio Championship Title

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University track and field team, with the help of three first-place finishes, captured the All-Ohio Championship title with 107.50 points Saturday afternoon inside the Malcolm Athletic Center, hosted by the University of Findlay. Miami (105.50), Akron (104), Cincinnati (101.50) and Ohio (47) rounded out the top five.
BGSU dominated the sprint and hurdle events with first-place finishes by junior Valerie Holland and senior Alicia Taylor. Holland captured the 60-meter dash with a 7.63, while Taylor won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.53 seconds. The Falcons, with the help of Amber Walker, Holland and Jessica White, also took home second, third and fourth place in the 200-meter dash.
Junior Melissa Krueger was the only runner in the one-mile run to post a time under the five-minute mark, taking home top honors in the event with a time of 4:59.69.
The Brown & Orange continued the impressive showing in the distance events. Senior Amber Culp captured five points for BG in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:18.10 placing fourth. Freshman Bridget Dalic and sophomore Leslie Carden took home sixth and seventh in the same event.
Up next for BGSU is the MAC Indoor Championships in Ypsilanti, Michigan, on February 27-28. The meet is set to begin at 10:30 a.m.
