MT. PLEASANT, Mich. -
BGSU COACH Curt Miller
"It was a gutsy win today. We didn't know what to expect, with Central Michigan having all week to prepare for us, and with a Bowling Green team that is tired and worn down. With some sick players, we have battled some adversity this week. I was very nervous, but it was a gutsy performance to come win a road game by 18 points after winning a road game by 21 points earlier in the week. Our seniors put us on their backs and carried us, even when we were tired, today."
(What is the difference between last year's BGSU team, which lost, 42-30, at CMU, and this year's team?)
"Clearly, the difference is that we have a tremendous freshman class. They have no history of losing, and they play with so much confidence. And, we are getting great leadership from our two seniors. Every coach claims that they have great team chemistry, but this team really cares for each other and believes in themselves. They are very confident, but not in a cocky way, and the freshman class is a big reason for the difference."
"There is not a lot of difference between the 8-3 and 0-11 teams out there today. But, you can tell that we are playing with so much confidence. We're making plays, and Central just is not making as many plays right now."
(On Central Michigan's fast start:)
"Central played very well at the beginning of the game, and they have played well at home. It was not a surprise to our coaching staff that Central started the game like that. The (early BG) timeout helped us regroup. It actually helped us in that we could bring the troops over and tell them that Central is a good team, they just haven't won a lot of games. That is a good team over on that bench, and fortunately, we were not the team that they got hot against."
