HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - "I'm ecstatic. That four-overtime loss (to Northern Illinois last Wednesday), is still hanging over our heads, and we didn't play very well in the last seven minutes against Kent. Just like that, you feel like you are throwing some things away. So, this was a big gut-check for us, and I'm ecstatic with this win. They executed the game plan to a T, and accomplished a lot of what we planned to do against them. We didn't play our best basketball when we started to play not to lose. We got tentative, and I didn't think we were aggressive down the stretch. But, wow, we were good in stretches, and I am ecstatic with this win."
"To our credit, we handled their pressure. We got ahead, so they pressed almost the entire game. To come out against their pressing style, have a positive assist-to-turnover ratio, and have only 14 turnovers for the entire game is a big credit to us. It did feel like, at times, we turned the ball over more than that. But, when we did stay aggressive after we broke their pressure, we had a big basket down the stretch."
"Stefanie (Wenzel) missed her first couple shots. But, once she got going, you could just see that she was going to have a big shooting night. I was on her, because she had some turnovers tonight. But, it is a credit to our seniors. They led our freshman group, in a tough place to win. And now, we have clinched at least the seventh seed, so we keep climbing up that ladder (for MAC Tournament seeding)."
"Ali Mann was tremendous. She hit some back-breaking three's in transition, and she battled inside against a very strong and physical team. She is also battling a very severe cold, but she stepped up and played a big game for us."
(On Sunday's game at Ball State)
"It is a great opportunity for us. Any time we can get exposure like that, it is going to help us. It will be on television, in the homes of all the kids we are recruiting, so it is a big game in terms of the future of the program. In the short term, Ball State is fighting desperately for playoff position. If we beat them, they won't be able to catch us in the standings. But, if they beat us, they take the (head-to-head) series and will win any tiebreakers. It is a big game for a lot of reasons, but we are looking forward to the exposure that a TV game will give our program."
