FALCONS CONCLUDE FOUR-GAME HOMESTAND
Monday's game with Western Michigan will conclude a season-long four-game homestand. The Falcons saw their three-game winning streak snapped Saturday in an 81-71 loss to Ball State. The Falcons end the MAC regular season at Eastern Michigan, March 6. If the MAC Tournament were to begin today, BGSU would be the seventh seed.
THE SERIES WITH THE BRONCOS
BGSU holds a 65-35 lead in a series which began during the 1955-57 season. Western Michigan has won the last three meetings, including a 67-65 triumph last year in Anderson Arena. The Falcons are 7-2 at home against WMU since the 1992-93 season.
GETTING BACK TO THE GUND
The Falcons need one win or a combination of one loss by three of the following (Akron, EMU, Ohio, Marshall) to secure a first round home game (March 8) in the MAC Tournament. BGSU will be looking to return to Cleveland's Gund Arena for the fifth straight year. BGSU, Miami, Marshall, Kent State, and Central Michigan are the only MAC schools to advance to Cleveland each of the four years the tournament has been at Gund Arena.
FINAL REGULAR SEASON HOME GAME FOR LONE SENIOR
Senior center Kevin Netter, an honorable mention All-MAC pick in 2003, will be playing his final regular season home game with the Falcons. He is the 28th all-time leading scorer with 1,065 points and ranks third in career blocked shots (101) and eighth in field goal percentage (53.7). A two-time MAC West Player of the Week selection, Netter is averaging 14.5 points in MAC play.
WRAPPING UP BALL STATE
The 81 points scored by the Cardinals marked the first time in 33 home MAC games that a BGSU opponent has scored 80 points or more in Anderson Arena (Central Michigan, 92, 1/6/01). BGSU was outrebounded (39-35) for the first time in six games. The Falcons led by as many as eight points, 30-22 with 3:42 remaining in the first half. Junior John Reimold had a team-high 25 points, the seventh time this season he has scored 20 points or more. He also had four three-pointers or more in a game for the eighth time this season. Sophomore Steven Wright had 11 points and six rebounds. It was the fifth time in eight games he has scored in double digits. Junior Josh Almanson had nine points and with his three-point basket, has now made seven straight three-pointers since February 7 (at WMU). He is averaging 12.3 points in the last four games. Freshman Chris Hobson played a MAC season-high 14 minutes. He had two points, and a rebound, assist and steal.
