Dayton, Ohio - Bowling Green plated runs in seven of nine innings, including six in the fourth inning, to take the final game of a three-game series, 16-7, against the University of Dayton. The Falcons took two of three from the Flyers on the weekend.
BGSU went ahead in the first inning when Nolan Reimold hit a two-run blast to left field. The homer was the second in as many days for the Falcon sophomore. The visitors added to the lead in the second inning with three more runs, this time thanks to freshman Eric Lawson who hit his first collegiate homer to left field with two outs and two runners on.
After a scoreless third inning, the Falcons turned up its offensive output by plating six runs in the fourth frame. Again, it was Reimold and Lawson who did the damage for the Falcons, as the two combined to drive in five of the six runs scored during the inning.
Bowling Green tacked on another pair of runs in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Lawson and a sacrifice fly by junior Andy Hudak. The scores marked the end of BGSU's multi-run innings and pushed the Falcons' lead to 13-2.
The Flyers did mount a comeback attempt in the game's later innings, putting up two runs in both the seventh and the eighth, while posting one in the ninth.
But as the Flyers attempted to play catch up, BGSU continued to pull away, posting runs of their own in each of the last three innings to seal the 16-7 victory.
Junior Burke Badenhop picked up the win, pitching four innings and allowing just two runs on three hits with two walks and one strikeout. Alan Brech (2.0 innings), Ryan Lindquist (1.0 inning), Greg Becker (1.0 inning) and Dino Cowell (1.0 inning) each pitched in relief. The loss went to junior Brooks Hazelbaker, allowing six hits and a pair of homers in just two innings pitched.
