Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University football team will make two national television appearances in the 2004 season in a schedule released today by the Mid-American Conference. BGSU, which won the 2003 MAC West and Motor City Bowl titles, will play at Northern Illinois on Friday, September 24 and at Toledo on Tuesday, November 23 on ESPN or ESPN 2. Last year, BGSU made five national television appearances and finished the season ranked #23 in the AP and ESPN/Coaches polls.
"I think it is fantastic to get a chance to play two conference games on national television," said second-year coach Gregg Brandon. "I think people recognize the MAC produces quality football teams year in and year out and next year should be no different."
The Falcons will play five of its first seven games on the road. BGSU will open the year on September 4 at Oklahoma, a team which played in the BCS National Championship game last season. BGSU will play its home opener on September 11 against Southeast Missouri State and will take 13 days off before opening MAC play against Northern Illinois, September 24.
BGSU will play at Temple on October 2 and at Central Michigan on October 9 before returning home to face Ball State in its annual Homecoming Game on October 16. BGSU will renew a rivalry with Ohio in Athens on October 23 before hosting three straight games against Eastern Michigan (October 30), Western Michigan (November 6) and Marshall (November 13). The Falcons conclude the regular season on the road at Toledo on November 23.
The MAC Championship game, featuring the winners from the East and West Divisions will take place Thursday, December 2, at a site to be determined.
