The Falcons will now be the seventh seed in next week's First Energy MAC Men's Basketball Tournament. BGSU will host Ohio at 7 p.m., Monday with the winner facing Kent State at noon on Thursday, March 11, in Cleveland's Gund Arena.
The Falcons fell to 1-1 in overtime games this season.
The Falcons set a MAC and school record by making all 25 free throws tonight. They broke the old mark of 21/21 set by Ohio against Kent State on March 12, 1989. The NCAA record is 34 for 34 in a game set by UC Irvine in 1981 and matched by Samford in 1990.
Sophomore Ron Lewis established a school record by making all 18 of his free throw attempts. He was one shy of the MAC record of 19/19 set by Geno Ford against Eastern Michigan on February 2, 1997. The NCAA record is 24 for 24 set by Arlen Clark of Oklahoma State against Colorado in 1959.
Lewis is the MAC leader in free throws made this season with 182. He also is the top scoring sophomore in the MAC averaging 17 points per game.
As a team, the Falcons will likely set a new single-season BGSU record as they lead the MAC by making 77.9 percent of their charity tosses. The 1964-65 team made 75.3 percent of its free throw attempts.
Lewis finished with a team-high 24 points and had seven rebounds.
Junior John Reimold had 14 points and eight rebounds. He averaged 15.3 points in the MAC.
With 11 points, senior Kevin Netter now has 1,095 career points which is 27th on the BGSU all-time list. Netter finished MAC play averaging 14.4 points in league games.
Sophomore Steven Wright had 11 points and has scored in double figures in six of the last 10 games. Wright finished the MAC season by making 47.1 percent of his three-point attempts (16/34)
Junior Josh Almanson had eight points and six rebounds off the bench. With two of three long distance shots tonight, Almandon is shooting 59.3 percent from three-point range making 16 of 27 attempts.
