Three Falcons Named To All-MAC Teams

CLEVELAND, Ohio - For the first time in six years, the Bowling Green State University women's basketball team has had three players named to the All-Mid-American Conference Team. Seniors Stefanie Wenzel and Lindsay Austin and freshman Ali Mann have been named to the all-conference team, the league office announced Monday morning (March 8). Wenzel picked up second-team honors, while Austin and Mann each earned honorable mention.
Additionally, Mann was selected to the MAC's All-Freshman Team. The All-MAC and All-Freshman teams are the results of voting by the league's 13 head coaches.
All three Falcon players earn all-league honors for the first time in their respective BGSU careers.
Wenzel, the lone Falcon to average double digits in scoring in each of the last three seasons, leads the Falcons with 14.9 points per game. A native of Sussex, Wis., she became just the 17th player in school history to surpass the 1,000-point plateau for her career, and currently ranks 16th with 1,060 points. Wenzel, currently ranked third in the MAC in scoring, has scored in double digits in 24 of BGSU's 28 games. She also is ranked on all of BGSU's three-point lists, and has hit 56 treys this season.

Mann has averaged 12.9 points and 7.9 rebounds per game in her initial collegiate season, leading the team in rebounding and ranking second in scoring. A native of Chelsea, Mich., the forward leads the Falcons, and all MAC freshmen, with a total of seven double-doubles this year. She finished the MAC regular season as the league's leader in three-point field-goal percentage, making 23-of-43 (.535) in conference games. She currently leads all league frosh in both scoring and rebounding, ranking 10th in the MAC in the former category and sixth in the latter.

Mann is the eighth player in school history to be named to the MAC's All-Freshman Team, and the first since Francine Miller in 1998-99.
The Falcons are 19-9 overall, and BGSU finished MAC play with an 11-5 record. BG, the fourth seed for the Kraft MAC Tournament, defeated Central Michigan in a first-round game Saturday (March 6), and will meet fifth-seeded Western Michigan in Wednesday (March 10) action at Gund Arena in downtown Cleveland. The quarterfinal game is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.
