D'Arcy McConvey Named to CCHA All-Academic Team

Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green State University senior captain D'Arcy McConvey has been named to the Central Collegiate Hockey Association All-Academic Team for the second consecutive year. The award is voted on by the league's faculty representatives. McConvey is one of just three players that return from last year's All-Academic Team.
McConvey maintains a 3.91 GPA while majoring in financial economics. He has led the Falcons in total points the past two seasons while serving as team captain. So far this season, McConvey has 10-15--25 in 36 games. In 2003, McConvey represented BGSU at the NCAA Foundation Leadership Conference and was named Verizon District IV All-Academic Third Team.
Three Falcons earned All-Academic Honorable Mention (SR Kevin Bieksa, JR Alex Rogosheske, and JR Jordan Sigalet) while five Falcons were named All-Academic Special Mention (SO Ryan Barnett, JR Steve Brudzewski, SO Bob Frazee, JR Chris Pedota, and SO Jon Sitko).
For Bieksa, it is his second time on the honorable mention list and third year overall that he has been recognized for his academic success by the league.
To be eligible for consideration, a player must have completed at least one academic year and have a 3.00 grade-point-average on a 4.00 scale. The top six vote-getters, regardless of position, are named to the All-Academic Team with others receiving votes earning honorable mention. All players who were nominated receive special mention.
The All-Academic Team will be honored at the 2004 CCHA Awards, Wednesday, March 17, at the Fox Theatre in Detroit. The event is open to the public. Tickets are $10. The evening begins with a social hour at 7 p.m. followed by the presentation at 8:15 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the door or by mailing a check or money order to: CCHA, 23995 Freeway Park Dr., Farmington Hills, MI 48335.
