Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University hockey team held its end of the season banquet on Saturday, April 17, at the Bowen-Thompson Student Union. The 2003-04 Falcon Hockey team accumulated 11 more points in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association standings than last season and finished ninth in the league.
One of the highlights of the evening was the naming of the Jim Sears Most Valuable Player Award. This year's recipient was junior goalie Jordan Sigalet. The Surrey, British Columbia native led the nation in minutes played (2,210:02) and saves (1,140) this season en route to a 2.74 goals-against-average and .919 save pct. His save amount is a new BGSU single-season record.
Sigalet was also one of the three BGSU captains named for the 2004-05 season. Sigalet will join fellow seniors Alex Rogosheske and Ryan Minnabarriet as the three Falcon members who will don the "C" for next year. Rogosheske was an assistant captain in 2003-04 while Minnabarriet had a breakout season this year with 20 points (6g, 14a) in 37 games, all career-highs.
Also at the dinner, Bill Lloyd was rewarded for his years of service and support to the Falcon Hockey team with the Dr. Tom Wojciechowski Distinguished Service award.
