BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Jenny Schnipke is the Bowling Green State University Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Schnipke, a senior on the BGSU women's golf team, posted the highest finish in school history at the league championships.
Schnipke, a native of Kalida, Ohio (Kalida H.S.), placed third among individuals at the MAC Championships, the best finish in BGSU annals. She had a three-round score of 226 (74-74-78), two shots back of second place and 11 out of first.
For her efforts, Schnipke was named to the All-MAC Second Team for the third time in her career. Her best previous finish at the league championships was sixth place (placed sixth in 2001 and tied for sixth in 2002). She made a 23-spot improvement after tying for 26th at last year's MAC Championships.
Schnipke's score of 226 was just five shots off her own school record of 221, registered at the Nittany Lion Invitational last fall.
Schnipke, an exercise specialist major, currently maintains a 3.49 cumulative grade point average.
As a team, the Falcons finished eighth at the MAC Championships with a three-round score of 992.
