CMU Takes Final Game vs. Bowling Green, 15-8

Mt. Pleasant, Mich. - Central Michigan broke open a two-run game against visiting Bowling Green with six runs in the fifth inning to defeat the Falcons, 15-8, in Mt. Pleasant, Mich. BGSU fought back to cut its deficit to three runs in the seventh inning, but the Chippewas built its lead back up to seven with four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning.
CMU built a 3-0 lead after two innings before BGSU plated two runs in the top of the third inning off of a Andy Hudak RBI-single and Nolan Reimold RBI-single. Two more runs by the Chippewas in the bottom of the third inning built their lead up to 5-2.
The Falcons got another run in the fourth inning when Eric Lawson drove home Tyler Wasserman from third base with a single to center field, bringing the Falcons to within two, 5-3. Wasserman reached with a double.
However, CMU plated six runs in the fifth inning thanks to seven hits, including five singles, to go up 11-3. The Falcons began yet another comeback with two runs in the top of the sixth inning when Wasserman again began the inning with a hit, this time singling to center field. A bases-loaded fielder's choice by David Barkholz brought home Wasserman and Hudak followed with his second RBI-single of the game, scoring Kevin Longstreth.
BGSU added three more runs in the seventh inning thanks to three RBI-singles. Steve Raszka hit a pinch-hit, RBI-single, followed by Longstreth and Barkholz, to cut the Falcon deficit to three, 11-8.
The score stayed that way until CMU added four runs in the eighth inning off of three hits and two Falcon errors for the final 15-8 verdict.
BGSU's Burke Badenhop (1-2) suffered the loss, allowing nine runs (eight earned) in four innings pitched. Alen Brech pitched in relief, surrendering six runs (two earned) in four innings of work. Ryan Cremeans (2-1) picked up the win for CMU. Reimold finished 3-for-4 on the day while four other Falcons had two hits apiece.
CMU took two of three games from BGSU in the weekend series. The two teams combined for 58 runs in the three nine-inning affairs. Freshman Eric Lawson finished the weekend batting .429 in the three games (6-for-14), along with a .929 slugging pct., with two home runs, one double and five RBIs.
BGSU drops to 12-6 overall and 3-3 in the Mid-American Conference. CMU improves to 12-13 overall and 2-1 in the MAC.
The Falcons host two non-conference contests this week when Wayne State (Tuesday, April 6) and Detroit-Mercy (Wednesday, April 7) visit Warren Steller Field. Both games are scheduled for 3 p.m. EST.
