BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Lindsay Heimrich is the Bowling Green State University Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Heimrich, a sophomore on the BGSU softball team, aided the Falcons both in the circle and at the plate last week.
Warnock, a native of Waterville, Ohio (Anthony Wayne H.S.), had a deceptive 1-2 record and an earned-run average of 1.37 on the week. She threw a complete-game four-hitter in a win over IPFW Saturday (April 3), with the only run against her coming on a two-out error in the final inning. In that game, a 7-1 BGSU win, Heimrich struck out a career-high seven batters.
The next day, she came on in relief against Indiana, pitching three-plus innings. Heimrich gave up just three hits and a pair of runs in that contest, striking out three without walking a batter. She started the second game of the day at IU, and allowed only one earned run in five innings.
On the week, Heimrich allowed opponents to hit only .203 against her. At the plate, she hit .250 with a pair of doubles and a pair of runs batted in.
This season, Heimrich is now 2-4 with an ERA of 1.73 and an opponent batting average of just .201. She has walked only four batters and struck out 25 in 36 1/3 innings of work. At the plate, she is batting .263 this season, good for third on the team. Her seven doubles rank her second on the Falcons.
Heimrich, currently undecided upon a major, maintains a cumulative grade-point average of a perfect 4.00.
The Falcons (13-19, 2-3 MAC) welcome Western Michigan to town for a three-game Easter Weekend series at the BGSU Softball Field. BG and Western will play a pair of Friday (April 9) games, beginning at 2:00 p.m., before meeting in a 1:00 p.m. single game Saturday (April 10). The homestand continues with a Monday (April 12) DH vs. Oakland, starting at 3:00 p.m.
