Burke Badenhop and Jeff Warnock Named Academic All-MAC

Cleveland, Ohio - Bowling Green State University baseball members Burke Badenhop (Perrysburg, Ohio) and Jeff Warnock (Cincinnati, Ohio) have been named to the Mid-American Conference's All-Academic Team, which was voted on by the league's faculty athletic representatives. A total of 46 baseball student-athletes met the criteria for the team.
Badenhop was named the BGSU Junior Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year for 2004 and was named to MAC Academic Honor Roll in 2003. He has a 3.91 GPA while majoring in economics. The right-hander made a team-high and career-high 12 starts this season while pitching a team-high and career-high 64 innings. He pitched a career-high eight innings at Buffalo (April 11) and struck out a career-high 10 vs. Northern Illinois (April 18). Badenhop ended the season with 40 strikeouts and 23 walks, earning victories at Dayton (Feb. 29), at Buffalo (April 11), and vs. Miami (May 8).
Warnock was recently named to the 2004 Academic All-District IV University Division Baseball Second Team, as selected by members of the CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). The outfielder had the highest grade-point-average on the Falcon baseball team with a 3.94 GPA and was named to Mid-American Conference Academic Honor Roll in 2003. Warnock finished fifth on the team with a career-high .353 batting avg. and 47 hits. He finished the year with six doubles, three triples, one home run and 21 RBIs in 47 games. Warnock committed just one error in 55 opportunities, had a team-high 12 sacrifice hits, and was 8-for-8 in stolen bases. He earned All-MAC Second-Team accolades a week ago.
To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50% of the contests for that particular sport. First year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award. Outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments from the current season only are considered.
