Falcons Prepare For Raider Challenge

BGSU, coming off a West Virginia Invitational Title, will now set their sights on the Raider Challenge, hosted by Wright State. The Falcons will square off with the host school on Friday, Sept. 17 at 7:30 p.m. and conclude the tournament on Saturday with matches versus Wake Forest at noon followed by a 5:00 p.m. showdown with Morehead State.
FALCONS GO 5-0 OVER THE PAST WEEK
After starting the 2004 season 0-3 with loses to #4 Florida, Northwestern and IPFW, the BGSU Falcons have rolled of five straight wins. The streak began on Sept. 8, with a four-set win over Cleveland State in their home opener and still remains after the Falcons went 4-0 over the weekend at the West Virginia Invitational.
FALCONS CAPTURE WEST VIRGINIA INVITATIONAL CROWN
The Bowling Green State University volleyball team, with the help of tournament MVP Melissa Mohr, won all four matches at the West Virginia Invitational this weekend in Morgantown, West Virginia. The Falcons defeated High Point (3-0) and Robert Morris (3-1) on Saturday and followed that up with wins over West Virginia (3-1) and Delaware State (3-0) on Sunday. Senior Melissa Mohr averaged 3.07 kills/game, 3.21/game digs and 1.57/game blocks. Freshman Stephanie Swiger averaged 3.21 kills/game and recorded a team-high .311 hitting percentage. She was also named to the all-tournament team. Senior Amber Mareski averaged 13.77 assists/game.
SENIOR MELISSA MOHR NAMED MAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK Bowling Green State University senior Melissa Mohr, after being named West Virginia Invitational Tournament MVP on Sunday, was named Mid-American Conference Player of the Week less then 24 hours later. Mohr helped lead the Falcons to five straight wins over the past week. Mohr averaged 3.07 kills, 3.21 digs and 1.57 blocks per game in four matches at the West Virginia Invite. She also had 17 digs, 15 kills and four blocks in a win over the host school. The middle hitter also added 11 kills, 12 digs and seven blocks against Robert Morris Last week she led the Falcons to a win over Cleveland State, where she had 15 kills, nine digs, seven blocks and four aces. Mohr averaged 3.22 kills, 3.00 digs, 1.61 blocks and 0.56 aces per contest on the week.
