This will be the lone BGSU home game until the October 16 Homecoming tilt against Ball State. This will be the first of back-to-back games against MAC foes for the Indians. They play at Central Michigan, September 18. SEMO is 0-1 after losing at Southern Illinois, 42-3, on Sept. 2. This will mark the third straight year that BGSU has faced an OVC team. In 2002, BGSU beat Tennessee Tech, 41-7, while last year they topped Eastern Kentucky, 63-13. BGSU has won 13 straight regular season home games dating back to November 2001. Senior defensive back Keon Newson was named MAC West Defensive Player of the Week for the third time in his career. The BGSU offensive line did not allow a sack against an Oklahoma defense which recorded 45 in 2003. A new scoreboard with video capabilities will make its debut in BGSU's home opener. In addition, all BGSU faculty and staff may pick up four free tickets at the BGSU Athletic Ticket Office and a post-game fireworks show will follow the game. The first 10,000 fans will receive a BGSU schedule magnet courtesy of SBX. The BGSU Athletic Hall of Fame will induct seven new members this weekend. Former football All-American Andre Young will be honored along with women's basketball standout Lori Albers, men's track/cross country great Todd Black, gymnast Mary Beth (Friel) Bylsma, volleyball standout Lisa (Mika) Huston, swimmer Josie McCulloch and men's lacrosse player Chuck Winters. BGSU's 7-3 record against IA non-conference teams since 2001 is the best among the 14 MAC schools in that span.
