Mt. Pleasant, Michigan - With the win the Falcons improved to 5-3 on the road and 3-1 away from home in the MAC.
BGSU leads the series 34-26 and has won three of its last four games at Rose Arena.
BGSU rallied from a double-digit deficit for the second straight game (15-4 with 13:06 left in the first half).
BGSU tied the score six times after that and held a three-point lead in the second half.
BGSU made a season-high 27 free throws in a season-best 32 attempts.
Junior Steven Wright had a three-pointer from the corner with 2:12 remaining to give BGSU the lead for good at 72-70. Freshman guard Perrick Robinson forced two key steals on defense as BGSU improved to 17-3 when leading by one or two points in the final minute since the 2001-02 season. His steal and a layup by senior John Reimold with 51 seconds gave the Falcons a 74-70 lead.
The Falcons are 9-0 when scoring 70 points or more this season. BGSU also outrebounded the Chippewas, 34-31 and is 11-1 when outrebounding its opponent.
Reimold finished with a team-high 19 points and he surpassed former teammate Kevin Netter for 27th place on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,124 points. He also had eight rebounds. With 96 career three-pointers (he hit 2/3 tonight), he needs four triples to surpass Keith McLeod who finished his BGSU career with 99 treys.
Senior Josh Almanson had 16 points and made six of eight shot attempts. He had four rebounds and had three blocked shots. He now has scored 922 career poinbts and his 95 career blocked shots ranks fourth all-time at BGSU.
Wright finished with 15 points and tied his career-best with three long distance field goals, including the go-ahead triple that hit the back of the rim and bounced straight up before dropping in the basket.
Sophomore John Floyd had 12 points, 10 in the second half, and made all eight of his free throw attempts. That ties a Falcon season-high set by Wright against Buffalo.
Junior Mawel Soler made his second straight start and had eight points, six rebounds, two assists and three steals. His 37 minutes played was a season-high for him.
Senior Cory Eyink chipped in seven points off the bench and also had four rebounds. He made his first two free throws in MAC play this season.
