IPFW brings an impressive 14-2 record to Anderson Arena, including 3-0 sweeps of MAC members Miami and Eastern Michigan. The Mastodons are led by Fabiana Souza and her 4.70 kills per game. Claire Jackson is a defensive threat in the middle, averaging 1.34 blocks/game.
Central Michigan (3-13) visits Anderson Arena Friday night and they bring along an extremely balanced attack offensively. Five seperate "Chips" average over two but no more than three kills per game.
The 11-5 Eagles of Eastern Michigan are led by a pair of Piccolini's, Bethany and Lindsay, both averaging over 3.25 kills per game. Lindsay sits atop the blocks category in conference play. Her 32 blocks (1.68/game) is the best in the Mid-American Conference.
Offensive Explosion
The Falcon offense was running on all cylindars over the weekend (Oct. 7-8) against Akron and Buffalo. Bowling Green compiled 126 kills while hitting .282 for the road trip.
After taking game one against Akron, game two was an intense marathon as the Falcons fell 39-41, however that would be the only loss for the Falcons the rest of the night. Bowling Green rolled to the win by capturing the next two games.
It was déjà vu for the Falcons as a pair of seniors and sophomore Stephanie Swiger fueled the Falcon attack against Buffalo, blasting kills all over the court just as they had the night before in Akron.
Three seperate Falcons reached double digit kills against the Zips, including Swiger with her 12 kills and zero errors. Senior Ashlei Nofzinger blasted 15 kills against Akron before outdoing herself with 17 kills in just three games against Buffalo. Nofzinger hit an impressive .382 to along with her 32 kills. Fellow senior Emily Manser was another offensive brute for the Falcons, racking up 27 kills in the two Falcon victories.
Sizzlin' Swiger
Sophomore Stephanie Swiger has been red-hot in six MAC contests. With her ten blocks over the weekend, Swiger increased her total to 24 in MAC games, good for third best in the conference at 1.37 blocks/game. She also cracks the top ten with a .333 hitting percentage against MAC foes.
