BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University women's soccer team, riding a school-record five-match winning streak, concludes the regular-season schedule with three Mid-American Conference road matches, including a pair this weekend ... the Falcons of head coach Andy Richards (10-6-0, 6-2-0 MAC), currently in second place in the league standings, will play a pair of contests in the state of Michigan, beginning with Friday's (Oct. 21) match at Central Michigan University ... that game will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the CMU Soccer Complex ... then, the Brown and Orange will face Eastern Michigan University Sunday afternoon (Oct. 23) at Scicluna Field, with kickoff set for 1:00 p.m. ... BGSU then ends the regular season with an Oct. 28 match against The University of Toledo.
BGSU CLINCHES MAC TOURNAMENT BERTH
Following that UT match, the Falcons' season will continue with a first-round match in the MAC Tournament on Nov. 1 ... BGSU has clinched a berth in the eight-team tournament for the fourth consecutive year.
LAST WEEKEND
The Falcons concluded the most successful homestand in history with two more shutout wins last weekend ... on Friday (Oct. 14), the Brown and Orange got a pair of goals midway through the second half for a 2-0 win over Kent State ... seniors Samantha Meister and Ashley Wentzel scored just 85 seconds apart, while classmate Ali Shingler made six saves in net ... two days later (Oct. 16), a four-goal explosion in the first half was more than enough for the Falcons, who topped Buffalo by a 4-0 count ... junior Lindsay Carter, freshman Kristin McDonald and senior Leah Eggleton scored for the Falcons, who also benefitted from a UB 'own goal' just 3:30 into the match.
THE MAC RACE
The Falcons have never been so high in the MAC standings so late in the season ... with three matches remaining in the regular season, BGSU is in second place, three points behind first-place Western Michigan ... BG is two points ahead of both Central Michigan (Friday's opponent) and Ball State, and three points up on fifth-place Toledo ... the top-four teams in the final regular-season standings will host first-round matches in the MAC Tournament ... each of the league's 12 schools will be in action this Friday (Oct. 21) and Sunday (Oct. 23) and will conclude the regular-season on Friday, Oct. 28 ... the current MAC standings, with each team's remaining schedule ...

HEAD COACH Andy Richards
Andy Richards is in his sixth season as a collegiate head coach, all with the Falcons ... he picked up his 50th career win last month (Sept. 11), and now has an overall record of 57-58-10, including a MAC Tournament mark of 7-3-1 ... Richards has led BGSU to the four finest seasons in school history over his first five years ... he has guided the Falcons to the semifinal round of the MAC Tournament on four occasions, to the championship match three times, and, in 2004, to the first league tourney title and NCAA Tournament berth in school history ... Eric Golz is in his second season with the program, and his first as the top assistant.

BGSU enters the weekend with an overall record of 10-6-0, and the Falcons are in second place in the MAC with a 6-2-0 league ledger ... last weekend, the Falcons won a pair of home matches, and BGSU is riding a season-high five-match win streak ... after a 3-1 win at Miami (Oct. 2), the Brown and Orange returned to Cochrane Field for wins over Ohio, Akron, Kent State and Buffalo ... senior Samantha Meister has a team-high 17 points, while classmate Britt Anderson is right behind with 15 ... Central Michigan enters the BGSU match with an overall record of 6-7-2, and the Chippewas are 5-2-1 in MAC play, good for a third-place tie ... after going undefeated through the first six league matches, Central suffered road losses to Northern Illinois (2-0) and first-place Western Michigan (2-1) last weekend ... the Chippewas are 4-1-1 at home this year, including 3-0-1 in conference play ... a pair of freshmen, Erica Rohren and Katy Boggan, pace the team in scoring ... Rohren has team-high totals of four goals and nine points, while Boggan's seven points include three assists ... juniors Alison Heydorn and Jacquie Lacek are tied for the team lead with four assists each, and both players have six points on the year ... in net, junior Anne Decker has played in all but one CMU match, and has 61 saves and a 1.23 goals-against average ... the Chippewas went 10-8-3 a year ago, tying for third place in the MAC with a 6-3-3 league record ... head coach Tony DiTucci welcomed back 10 letterwinners, including seven starters, from that team ... EMU will play a Friday (Oct. 21) home contest vs. Toledo before meeting BG on Sunday ... Eastern snapped a three-match losing streak with Sunday's (Oct. 16) 2-1 victory at Northern Illinois ... the Eagles' 3-2-0 home record includes a 2-2-0 conference mark ... individually, senior Michele Lawrence has scored eight of the team's 16 goals this fall, and has 17 points ... junior Lauren Clyne, the team's only other multiple-goal scorer to date, has three goals for six points this season ... in goal, sophomore Sara Schiffbauer has started the last 12 matches, and is 4-6-1 with 55 saves and a GAA of 1.29 ... a total of 16 letterwinners, including nine starters, returned from last year's 10-7-3 team ... that squad finished 6-4-2 in MAC play ... head coach Scott Hall, in his seventh season, has a record of 77-52-14.
The Falcons hold a slim 4-3-2 lead over Central Michigan in the all-time series between the teams ... BGSU has won two of the prior three meetings in Mount Pleasant, but the lone road loss came last year, a 1-0 CMU win on Sept. 24 ... the teams have met in each of the last two MAC Tournaments, battling to a 0-0 tie in the semifinal round two years ago before the Falcons advanced on penalty kicks (Nov. 7, 2003) ... exactly one year later, the teams met in the tourney championship match in Athens, Ohio, with Gina Rossi scoring the Falcons' first goal in a 2-0 win (Nov. 7, 2004) ... Ali Shingler posted shutouts in each of the two league tourney contests.
The Falcons trail Eastern Michigan, 6-4-1, in that series, but BGSU is 4-3-1 in road meetings vs. the Eagles, as eight of the 11 series matches have been held at Scicluna Field ... last year, however, three Eastern goals on consecutive shots led to a 3-2 Eagle home win (Sept. 26, 2004) ... that loss was the final match in BG's nine-match winless streak, before the Falcons began the turnaround that resulted in the 2004 MAC Tournament title ...
