BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Quoting Bowling Green State University head coach Curt Miller and junior forward Ali Mann after the Falcons' 77-55 win over Saint Francis (Pa.) University at Anderson Arena on Monday night ...
BGSU HEAD COACH CURT MILLER
"I'm obviously pleased that we got a win against a program that is very rich in tradition and, before the year is out, a team that is going to win a lot of games in their conference. But, I have to admit, I was not happy at halftime. I was disappointed with our effort. I felt like we accomplished goals, early, of going after their two starting post players. We had both in foul trouble, with their starting center only playing five minutes in the first half. I try to teach my team that we need to put a team away when we have the chance. I didn't think we did that, and I was disappointed with that. I broke a chair in the locker room to prove that point, that we needed to play a little bit better, and I think my point got across. I didn't really like that chair anyway."

(It looked like you really wanted to run the floor in the second half)
"We picked up on tape that Saint Francis is very committed to going to the offensive boards. If they don't get the offensive rebound, if we do a good job of rebounding, then we have fast-break advantages. That was something that was a point of emphasis over the last 48 hours; if we could rebound the ball, we could get a lot of easy baskets. For the game, we shot 65 percent from inside the arc."
"I was disappointed with our shooting from the three-point line, because it wasn't a game where we took contested 3s. We had a lot of wide-open 3s. But, you have to keep pushing it at them. One of our goals was to win points in the paint, and our shooting was tremendous inside the arc."
(On the two home wins to start the season)
"I'm pleased that we set the tone here, toward making Anderson a tough place to play. Over the last two-plus years, we are 20-5 here at home. We've won 80 percent of our games at home, and taking care of our homecourt is very important. We have a lot to work on, though. We didn't look good at times, but that's a coach, complaining on a 22-point win."
(On the upcoming schedule, with seven of the next eight games away from home)
"Thank you for reminding me of that. Yes, it's an important stretch for us. We play a lot of teams that are going to finish in the upper part of their conferences ... We play a lot of teams that are coming off tremendous seasons. We are going to grow up in a hurry. You've got to take care of your homecourt, but championships are won by stealing road victories. And, if we can steal some non-conference road victories, it will give us confidence heading into a very, very competitive MAC race this year."
JUNIOR FORWARD ALI MANN
(On Miller's breaking a chair in the locker room at halftime)
"Did he tell you about that? He just wanted to prove a point, came into the locker room, threw the chair around a couple times. He wanted to break it; it took him a few tries -- I think he needs to come lift with us tomorrow -- but it sent a message. Everyone got a little quiet."
"The last stretch of the first half was pretty sloppy. We just weren't playing our style of basketball, and I knew he was going to come into the locker room and just let us have it, which he did. But, we deserved it, and it got us focused and ready to come out hard in the second half."
"Every night you are going to have people who struggle and people who are on. Tonight was just my night. I was having success taking the ball to the hole -- other than my two 3s, I don't think I took a shot from outside of five feet. Sometimes you just need to take the ball to the basket if the outside shot is not falling."
(On the play of the BG freshmen, particularly at the defensive end)
"We love our freshmen. They're a lot of fun, they bring a lot of energy. Lindsey Goldsberry gets her hand on the ball more than anyone I've ever played with. They are always providing a spark and getting us going, (getting) deflections and letting us push the ball."
