BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - A few quotes from Bowling Green State University women's basketball coach Curt Miller after the Falcons moved to 3-0 with Friday's (Nov. 25) 66-55 win over IUPUI ...
(On the play of junior Liz Honegger:)
"Liz was excellent tonight; I was really pleased with her output. She singlehandedly carried us in the first half, when we weren't playing very well. Her sister (Rachael) played here at IU, and a lot of people know the Honegger name around here. I expected her to come in here and have a pretty good tournament. She was very excited to play here, and there are a lot of family members here. I think she wanted to prove that she is every bit as good as the big sister, even though she may not have the Big Ten look. She certainly is our Big Ten player."
"(IUPUI) is very disciplined, and they are so, so athletic. In the long run, playing a game (like this) really will help, because we have a lot of teams in our league that are that athletic, and can really hurt you on the boards. They hurt us on the boards tonight, and they hurt us in transition. Again, in the long run, this game will really help our preparation for game against some of the teams that run high-low in our conference."
"Liz got us going, and Carin Horne hit a huge 3 down the stretch. When I challenged the team late in the game, asking who wanted the ball, there was absolute silence in the huddle, and then Carin looked at me and said, 'I want the ball.' We ran a play for her out of the timeout, with under four minutes to go and a big possession, and she stepped up and hit a big 3 that gave us a nine-point lead. From there, it was never a two-possession game again, and that's a big credit to Carin, wanting that big shot."
