Guinness Named NBC 24 Amateur Athlete of the Week

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Senior swimmer Jessica Guinness has been named the NBC 24 Amateur Athlete of the Week for the week of October 31. Her story will air tonight at 6:20 p.m. during the NBC 24 nightly Sports broadcast.
Guinness was both interviewed and filmed in action for the piece.
"I have never really been interviewed before, so this was a different experience," said Guinness of her time in front of the camera. "I was named Athlete of the Week in high school, but it was nothing compaired to this."
Coach Keri Buff was on hand for Guinness' interview and clearly sees the positive in this experience.
"I am really proud of Jessie and this is a great opportunity to showcase what a great young lady she is," said Buff.
In the opening round of conference competition, Guinness recorded a third place in the 100 Free against Toledo and was a member of the first place 200 Free Relay at the Eastern Michigan meet.
Guinness and Buff will have to miss the broadcast due to a meet with the Ohio State Buckeyes. The meet begins at 5:00 p.m. at the Cooper Pool facility.
