Falcons Sit In Fifth After Day One Of MAC Championships

ATHENS, Ohio - After day one of the MAC Swimming and Diving Championships, the Falcons are placed fifth among the nine total teams. Bowling Green sits with a total of 132 points. Taking first place after day one was Miami with 163 points, followed by Ohio University, Eastern Michigan and Toledo. Today's events included the 200 freestyle relays, 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free, one meter diving, and the 400 medley relay.
The Falcons were able to take third place finishes in three events. The 200 free relay team of Lisa Hipp, Stephanie Buckner, Jessica Guinness and Dana Schultz took third with a time of 1:35.21. This time was a new school record.
Also breaking a school record was sophomore Caroline Keating with a third place finish in the 500 free (4:54.53). Stephanie Buckner also had a third place standing in the 50 free with a time of 23.82.
Bowling Green will continue the MAC Championships on Friday Feb. 25 with preliminaries beginning at 11 a.m. and finals at 7 p.m.
