FULLERTON, Calif. - The Bowling Green State University softball team has seen both of Friday's originally-scheduled games at the Worth Invitational cancelled due to inclement weather, but the Falcons have not given up. BGSU saw the Pacific game cancelled earlier in the day, and now the BGSU-Minnesota game, already pushed back due to the weather, has been cancelled as well.
However, the Falcons are attempting to play a game vs. Boston College Friday evening. Two games have been scheduled to be played at Golden West College in Huntington Beach, Calif., with BGSU playing BC at 6:00 p.m. (9:00 Eastern) and Minnesota meeting Nevada at 8:00 p.m.
Nine of Friday's 10 originally-scheduled games in the 10-team, three-day tournament were lost due to the inclement weather. In the only game of the day, Illinois State scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to upset nationally-ranked Northwestern, 2-1. Following that game, a massive downpour hit, rendering the fields at Fullerton unplayable and cancelling the remainder of the day's games.
Following Friday's added games, the tournament will continue as scheduled on Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. (Noon Eastern), weather permitting. BGSU is slated to play the host school, Cal State Fullerton, at 1:30 local time, then the Falcons meet Nevada in a 6:00 p.m. start.
