Mruczkowski Drafted By The San Diego Chargers

Bowling Green, Ohio - The San Diego Chargers selected former BGSU All-MAC center Scott Mruczkowski with the 242nd pick of the 2005 NFL draft. He was selected in the seventh round and is the first BGSU offensive lineman to be drafted by the NFL since Bob Harris was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the ninth round of the 1980 draft.
Mruczkowski, 6-4 and 319 pounds, was a two-time All-MAC selection who started in a school-record 49 games during his career. He was a two-time nominee for the Rotary Lombardi award and was a candidate for the 2004 Rimington Award. He also was a team captain this year as BGSU won the 2004 GMAC Bowl.
This past year, he helped the Falcons set MAC records in scoring offense (44.3) and total offense (506.3). In addition, the Falcons allowed the fewest sacks in the MAC at 12 and were second in the league averaging 4.7 yards per carry. Nationally, BGSU finished second in total offense, third in passing and turnover margin, and fourth in pass efficiency and scoring margin.
Mruczkowski's brother, Gene, is an offensive lineman with the New England Patriots. Also, with Josh Harris being drafted by the Baltimore Ravens last season, the Falcons have had players drafted in consecutive years for the first time since 1990 and 1991.
