BGSU Women's Golf Finishes 9th at MAC Championships

Indian Springs, Ohio - The Bowling Green women's golf team finished ninth at the weather-shortened 2005 Mid-American Conference Championships with a team score of 675 (325-350). Sunday's final round at Walden Ponds Golf Club in Indian Springs, Ohio, was cancelled due to inclement weather.
Kent State, which has won every MAC Women's Golf title in the league's history, won its sixth straight team title with a score of 610 (287-323). Ohio was second with a 623 (300-323), Western Michigan was third at 630 (304-326) and Ball State finished fourth with a 632 (303-329).
BGSU sophomore Kari Liggett finished tied for 26th place with a 36-hole score of 164 (78-86). Freshman Jessica McCann finished T-37th with a score of 172 (87-85) while junior Amanda Schroeder (83-90) and senior Karen Binzel (84-89) finished T-39th with a score of 173. Freshman Amanda Bader finished 43rd with a score of 176 (80-96).
Ball State junior Katie Sundberg, who managed the second-lowest round of round two with a 77, earned medalist honors with a one shot victory over Western Michigan's Jenna Walter. Sundberg, who was also named to the All-MAC First Team, managed a 149 (72-77) to claim medalist honors, while Walter tallied a 150 (75-75) to finish second.
Kent State head coach Mike Morrow was named the MAC Coach of the Year for the fifth time in six years, and Wedding was named the MAC Golfer of the Year for a second straight season. Delaney was named the MAC Freshman of the Year, and Tammy Mahar of Marshall was named the MAC Sportswoman of the Year.
