Manser Named Junior Female Scholar Athlete Of The Year

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University volleyball player, Emily Manser, was named BGSU Junior Female Scholar Athlete of the Year, after maintaining a perfect 4.00 grade-point average her first three season on campus, while majoring in communication disorders.

This past fall the left-side hitter became only the fourth Falcon in school history to be named to the First-Team All-District Academic Team. She was also named MAC Player of the Week on Sept. 27 after leading the Falcons to a pair of conference wins over Toledo (12 kills and 17 digs) and Northern Illinois (15 kills and 16 digs). Manser recorded 12 double-doubles on the season including a 14-kill and 10-dig performance versus Akron in the opening round of the MAC Tournament.

Manser was not alone in her celebration as she helped the volleyball squad to a 3.76 team GPA, the highest of any BGSU teams with under 20 members.

"When her name was announced it brought tears to my eyes," said head coach Denise Van De Walle. "This is BG's biggest Junior award! She is a great example of a true student athlete. This caps off a wonderful year for Manser. I am so happy for her. "
