Nolan Reimold Named All-America by ABCA, Reimold and Alan Brech Named All-Mideast Region

Bowling Green State University's Nolan Reimold (Greenville, Pa.) was named an All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association & Rawlings, becoming the first Falcon ever to earn All-America accolades by three different outlets. He was tabbed third-team All-America by the ABCA while garnering first-team All-Mideast Region honors. Sophomore Alan Brech (Harrison, Ohio) was named to the All-Mideast Region Second Team, as well.
Reimold already earned second-team All-America honors by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association on June 14 and third-team honors by Baseball America on June 16. The 6-foot-4, 205 pounder became the 11th different Falcon player to be named to a postseason All-America team.
Reimold was selected in the second round of the Major League Baseball Amateur draft on June 7 by the Baltimore Orioles. He was taken as the 61st overall pick of the 2005 draft, the highest Falcon position player ever to be drafted and the fourth-highest Falcon ever selected in the 40-year history of the MLB draft. He became the first Falcon ever drafted by the Baltimore Orioles. Reimold went 2-for-4 in his professional debut on June 21 for the Single-A Aberdeen Ironbirds, smacking a double and a single on his first two at-bats.
The junior outfielder was named the 2005 Mid-American Conference Player of the Year on May 25 while earning First-Team All-MAC honors. Reimold ended the season with a .360 batting avg., .770 slugging pct., 20 home runs, 62 RBIs, and .496 on-base pct. His 20 home runs were second-most and his 62 RBIs were third-most by a Falcon in a single season. He was among the nation's leaders in slugging percentage, home runs and runs-batted-in throughout 2005.
Reimold's slugging percentage came from 30 of his 64 hits going for extra bases (20 home runs, 7 doubles, 3 triples). He has also hit for average, finishing second on the BGSU squad with a .360 batting average and is sixth all-time at Bowling Green with a .366 career batting average. Defensively, the junior roamed right field without committing an error in 84 fielding opportunities. In the past two seasons, he committed just one error in over 160 fielding chances. As for his quickness, he hit three triples in each of the last two seasons. He was 4-for-4 in stolen base attempts in 2005.
He was named MAC West Player of the Week four times this season after such performances as three home runs vs. Findlay on March 16, a school-record-tying eight RBIs vs. Toledo on May 13, and hitting home runs in four-straight games over the final week of the season. He was also named National Hitter of the Week on March 28 by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.

Brech became the first Falcon starting pitcher to earn All-MAC First-Team honors since Tony Fontana in 2000. The sophomore southpaw led the Falcons and was 10th in the MAC with a 3.05 ERA. He also led the team with 73.2 IPP and 68 strikeouts while posting an 8-1 record. His lone career loss came on March 12 vs. Indiana while his last seven decisions were victories. Brech was within two outs of recording a no-hitter on April 1 vs. Central Michigan, pitching a career-long 8.1 innings. He struck out a career-high 10 at Northern Illinois on April 15 and was named MAC Pitcher of the Week on April 16. Brechfinished 5-0 with 2.78 ERA in six MAC starts, including 35 of his career-high 68 strikeouts.
