BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The BGSU Women's Basketball Annual Golf Outing is scheduled for Thursday, July 21, at the Bowling Green Country Club. At the evening social, scheduled to run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., members of the BGSU women's basketball team and support staff will receive their rings commemorating the 2004-05 Mid-American Conference championship season. The Falcons won both the MAC regular-season and tournament titles and advanced to the NCAA Championships.
The deadline for individuals or groups to sign up for the golf outing is July 18. The fee is $75 per person, and includes greens fees, lunch, door prizes and beverages on the course, along with admission to the evening social. Reservations for the social only, including the ring ceremony, are $15 per person.
Head coach Curt Miller, entering his fifth season at BGSU, and his staff of associate head coach Jennifer Roos and assistant coaches Brandi Poole and Kevin Eckert will be on hand, as will past and present members of the Falcon women's basketball program.
The outing consists of an 18-hole scramble format, and is divided into morning (registration at 7:15 a.m., shotgun start at 8:00 a.m.) and afternoon (registration at 12:15 p.m., shotgun start at 1:00 p.m.) sessions. Session preference is on a first come, first serve basis. A buffet lunch will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., while the social runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Fivesomes will compete in three divisions: men's, women's and coed. Division and contest winners will be announced at the evening social.
Individuals or corporations interested in sponsoring the event can become involved as tee or cart sponsors. Tee sponsorships are $100 apiece, while a cart sponsorship is $25.
The Falcon women's basketball team finished the 2004-05 campaign with an overall mark of 23-8 and a Mid-American Conference record of 13-3. BGSU, as mentioned, won both the MAC regular-season and tournament titles, and advanced to the NCAA Championships for the first time in 11 years. Miller's Falcons gave Kansas State a scare before falling by a 70-60 final in the first round of the national tourney. A total of 10 letterwinners from that BG squad return in 2005-06.
