Men Eighth, Women Ninth In Preseason Cross Country Poll

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's and women's cross country poll was released today with the BG men picked to finish eighth, while the women are slated to finish ninth acording to the league's coaches.
Cami Wells begins her seventh season as the Falcon women's cross country coach, and enters her fourth year as head coach of the men's team.
The men's team will be bolstered by the return of last season's top runner, Rogers Kipchumba, as well as senior co-captain Bryan Jackson, and the return of several other runners after a year's absence also should help the Falcon squad.
On the women's side, the Falcons are coming off a seventh-place finish at the 2004 MAC Championships. That placing was the team's highest since 1998.
That group will be paced by sophomores Jamie Roflow and Stephanie Hillman. Roflow led the Falcons in four of last season's eight races, and earned all-state honors by placing 11th at the All-Ohio Championships. Hillman's freshman season was highlighted by a 21st-place finish at the MAC Championships, where she was the second runner to cross the line

Eastern Michigan men's and Kent State women's cross country teams have been picked to win the 2005 Mid-American Conference championship in a preseason poll voted on by MAC coaches. The MAC office announced the poll on August 19.
The Eagles, who last won a MAC Championship in 2000, return first team All-MAC selection Corey Nowitzke (Jr.), who placed fifth (25:04.80) at last year's championships.
2004 champion Central Michigan was tabbed second in this year's poll. The Chippewas graduated four of the teams top runners, but, second team All-MAC selection Matt Loiselle (So.) returns for CMU.
The Miami men's team was picked to finish third after its second-place finish at last year's championship. First team All-Conference selection Chris Swisher (Sr.) returns for his final season following finishing fourth individually (25:03.65) last season.
Kent State was selected to finish fourth following a third place finish 2004. Ohio, who finished fourth at the event, was tabbed fifth. Akron was picked to finish in the same position as last season, which was sixth overall.
Buffalo was picked seventh in the poll. The Bulls will look to second team All-MAC selection Jason Linton (Sr.) for leadership as he enters his final season. Tabbed eighth, Bowling Green returns Rogers Kipchumba (Jr.), who finished 13th at the at last year's event.
Rounding out the men's poll, Toledo was selected ninth overall. The Rockets' Eduardo Pasko (Jr.) returns for his third season after finishing 32nd at the 2004 MAC Championships.
On the women's side, defending champion Kent State returns Melinda Kiss (Sr.) after she placed 13th (18:42.75) at the championships last year.
Tabbed second was Akron following the Zips' third-place finish at last year's championship. First Team All-MAC selection Beata Rudzinska (Sr.) returns for her final season after she placed third (18:16.30) at the 2004 championship. The Zips also return second team All-MAC selection Morgan Sulzaner (Sr.).
Toledo was selected to finish third in this year's preseason poll.The Rockets placed fifth at the 2004 MAC Championships. Ball State was tabbed fourth.The Cardinals graduated two top runner last season, but Nicole Hartford (Sr.) return's for her final season.
Miami was selected to finish fifth after placing second at last year's championship. Second team All-MAC selection Carol Eckerly (So.) will return for her second season after finishing seventh (18:30.20) at the 2004 MAC Championship.
Buffalo was tabbed sixth. Second team All-MAC selection Kelli O'Brien (Sr.) looks to improve upon her 12th place (18:42.20) finish at the last year's event.
Picked seventh was Western Michigan, who will return second team All-MAC selection Rachael Lowe (Sr.). Ohio was selected to finish ninth. The Bobcat's first team All-MAC performer Carime Reinhart (So.) returns for her second season following a fifth-place finish in 2004.
Selected ninth, Bowling Green looks to improve on its seventh place finish at the 2004 MAC championships. Central Michigan was selected to finish tenth.
Picked at the same position as last season, Eastern Michigan was tabbed 11th. Rounding out the poll on the women's side was Northern Illinois, who was selected to finish 12th.
The Mid-American Conference Cross Country Championships will be hosted by Northern Illinois on Saturday, October 29 in DeKalb,Ill.
