BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University will take on first time opponent University of Maryland Baltimore County, Sept. 18...kick-off is set for 1:00 p.m....both teams will enter the match after recent defeats
Birds of a Feather Flock Together
Sophomore Greg Hennelly scored the lone goal for the Falcons in their 2-1 loss at the University of Evansville on a free kick from 25 yards...was his first goal of the 2005 season...has scored three career goals as a Falcon...freshman George Davis ties Hennelly in points scored as they each have two on the season...senior Omari aldridge and freshman Justin Kim each have one assist in 2005...in five starts, freshman Paul Shoemaker has 27 saves in 470:00 minutes...according to Thompson, freshman Andy Synk and the young corps of defenders comprised of fellow freshmen Jason Lopez, Kyle McNayr and sophomore John MacKenzie are molding as a unit making scoring chances for the opposition few and far between.

Both of the Falcons goals have come in the first half...four of the five goals scored by BGSU opponents have come in the second half.

The Orange and Brown fell to Xavier University, 5-0, on Wednesday, Sept. 14...the Falcons were outshot by XU 9-15 with 11 of Xavier's shots coming in the second half...Keeper Paul Shoemaker finished the night with five saves...UMBC was defeated by Virginia Commonwealth, 2-1, on Wednesday, Sept. 14...UMBC is just 1-2-1 when leading at halftime this season.

Fred Thompson is in his second year as BGSU head coach after serving two seasons as assistant at the University of Evansville and two years at Bellevue Community College...named 2001 NWAACC Coach of the Year...became only the fourth head coach in the 40-year history of the BGSU program after accepting the job in April, 2004...played professionally for eight years...assistant coach Tony Economopoulos is in his third season with the Falcons...served two seasons as assistant coach at Western Illinois University...2002 AFLAC Insurance National Assistant Coach of the Year nominee.
