Buff Invited to Coaching Summit as USA Swimming Representitive

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Swimming and Diving coach Keri Buff has been selected to represent USA Swimming at the NCAA and Olympic Committee Women's Coaching Summit held in Colorado Springs, Co. at the U.S. Olympic Training Center. The three day conference will host top coaches and athletes associated with the Olympic and NCAA sanctioned sports.
"I feel very honored to have been chosen to represent USA Swimming," said Buff shortly before her departure. "I am looking forward to learning from some of the greatest women in sports."
The summit will begin with the keynote address given by attorney Anita L. DeFrantz, a former Olympic medalist in the late 70's and early 80's. DeFrantz's professional background includes several leadership positions in the International Olympic Committee and is the president of the Board of Directors of the AAF, which is managing Southern California's endowment from the 1984 Olympic Games.
Friday's highlights of the summit will include former Iowa basketball standout, Felicia Hall whose professional history includes management positions with NIKE's women's basketball sports marketing division and the Charlotte Sting of the WNBA. Hall's presentation is entitled "Driving Yourself to the Top."
Later in the afternoon Kirsten Peterson, Ph.D, will offer her expertise on the subject of "Balancing Between Boredom and Burnout." Peterson provides sport psychology services to individual athletes and coaches as well as various resident and off-site national-level teams, and conducts educational performance enhancement workshops with Olympic, Paralympic, and Pan American sports.
Other topic's for Friday's presentations will cover communication, diversity, and gender differences.
Saturday's presentations will discuss training athletes for competition, the hiring process, nutrition, psychological issues concerning female athletes, conflict resolution and a mother's panel.
