Kelsey Jakupcin Earns First Singles Win as a Falcon

EAST LANSING, Mich. - In her second match against a Big Ten powerhouse, freshman Kelsey Jakupcin won her first No. 5 singles match on the campus of Michigan State University. The Falcons (0-2) fell to the Spartans (4-1) 6-1 in the defeat.
For the second time, Heidi Romer forced her No. 3 singles flight into three sets before falling to MSU's Sarah Andrews, 2-6,6-3,6-2.
In doubles action, the Spartans downed each Falcon duo 8-4.
The squad will take one day to rest before hosting the Penguins of Youngstown State University Sunday, Jan. 29. The season opener will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Toledo's Shadow Valley Tennis and Fitness Club.
