Orange Captures "Falcon Face-off" 4-2

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Just five days before the Bowling Green State University hockey team hosts Windsor (Oct. 5) in an exhibition contest the Falcons held their fifth annual "Falcon Face-off" with team Orange coming away with the 4-2 victory.
Team White opened the scoring with a goal by junior Ben Geelan just a few minutes into the contest. Juniors Jonathan Matsumoto and Michael Hodgson assisted on the lone goal of the period.
The Orange squad recorded the next two goals as they won both the fastest skater competition, as well as, the shootout. Here is how both contests broke down.

Final Round Brandon Svendsen defeats Tommy Dee to give the Orange squad a goal.
Shootout
In the shootout contest sophomore Jimmy Spratt stopped all five of White's attempts, while Mike Nesdill scored the lone goal to give the Orange squad a 2-1 lead following the skills competition.
White knotted the score at two apiece following a goal by Tommy Dee. Fellow freshman Kyle Page assisted on the goal at the 8:26 mark.
Orange took the lead for good as senior assistant captain Rich Meloche backhanded the puck past freshman Phil Greer for the eventual game-winner.
Sophomore Brian Bales capped the scoring as he registered an empty-net goal with just two seconds remaining in the contest.
As mentioned before the Falcons host Windsor on Oct. 5 in an exhibition contest before they play host to UConn (Oct. 13) and Alabama-Huntsville (Oct. 15) to open the regular season.
