Falcons Battle Titans in Detroit

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Falcons will travel north to take on the Titans of Detroit Mercy on Tuesday. Action will begin at 4:00 p.m. at Detroit's Titan Field. The Falcons enter the match at 1-9-1, while the Titans are currently 5-4-1.
Both programs took part it the Falcon Soccer Classic in late August. Each faced off with Eastern Illinois and Western Illinois the programs never met on the field of play. Both BGSU and UD ended the weekend at 1-1. While BGSU beat WIU, the Leathernecks took the victory over UD. Eastern Illinois also split decision with the Falcons and Titans.

In their first conference match of the season, the Huskies of Northern Illinois handed the Falcons their first MAC loss...keeper Paul Shoemaker made seven saves in the 2-0 loss...midfielder Cameron Hepple led the BGSU squad with two shots on goal...the Falcons are 0-1-0 in conference matches.

Detroit Team History
Morris Lupenec has been at helm of the Titan soccer program since 1987...in his tenure he has recorded a 164-175-36 record to date and has won two Horizon League Championships in 1995 and 2005...in Lupenec's only post-season appearance, the Titans were shut-out by the Falcons 4-0 in 1996.
Titans in 2006
The Titan soccer team has accumulated a 5-4-1 overall record to date while winning one and losing two in the Horizon League...opponents UIC and UW-Green Bay posted 3-0 shut-outs on September 24 and 29, respectively...both matches were at Titan Field on the campus of the University of Detroit...the Titans also posted a double overtime scoreless tie in Ann Arbor against Michigan on September 27... in September, the Titans shut out Mid-American Conference participants Buffalo (2-0) and IPFW (2-0).
BGSU/Detroit Series History
Bowling Green leads the all-time series 12-5-1...the Falcons have also outscored the Titans 36-21 since their first meeting in 1987...since the turn of the new millennium, the programs have played every year with the exception of 2005...Detroit owns the current record at 3-1-1...in that time, the Falcons have been shut-out once in (2004) and three of the matches were decided by one goal.
