CLEVELAND, Ohio - From the 'better late than never' department, Bowling Green State University volleyball standout Chrissy Gothke was named the Mid-American Conference's Female Scholar Athlete of the Week back on Oct. 19.
Gothke, a senior setter, earned the honor after totalling 13 kills, 75 assists, 20 digs, two blocks and a pair of service aces as the Falcons posted a pair of three-game sweeps on the road.
A native of Whitehouse, Ohio (Anthony Wayne H.S.), Gothke hit .421 from her setter position, and was just one kill shy of a triple-double in the Falcons' sweep of Eastern Michigan. She averaged over 13 assists per game in a three-game victory over Central Michigan.
Gothke has a 3.52 cumulative grade-point average in finance and supply chain management.
The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during that week's competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives
