Bowling Green State University student athletes made an appearance at the Wood County Library on Tuesday as part of the Homecoming 2006 Coloring Contest. The contest included area elementary schools, as well as the Wood County Library itself.
Student athletes from Falcon Football, Volleyball, and Men's & Women's Basketball were present to answer questions from local school kids, and belove Falcon mascots Freddie & Frieda were also in attendance. All who attended also had the opportunity to get autographs on team posters from their favorite Falcon athletes.
"The event was a great opportunity for our student athletes to give back to the community and share their experiences," said Marketing Assistant, Darin Ottaviani. "I think the kids benefited by hearing first hand what it takes to be a student athlete."
Participating athletes were Jon Jakubowski and Kory Lichtensteiger from Football, Meghan Mohr and Stephanie Swiger from Volleyball, Matt Lefeld and Brandon Bland from Men's Basketball, and Whitney Taylor and Lindsey Goldsberry from Women's Basketball
Homecoming 2006 is Saturday, October 14th, as the Falcon Football team hosts Eastern Michigan. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00pm at Doyt Perry Stadium.
