Falcons Post Several Friday Wins at Wildcat Invitational

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Bowling Green State University tennis team picked up several key wins in first-day action Friday (Oct. 6) at the Wildcat Invitational. The three-day, 11-team invite is being hosted by Northwestern University.
Sophomore Stefanie Menoff and freshman Katia Babina picked up the lone singles wins of the day for the Brown and Orange. Menoff, competing at the fourth flight, lost only four total games in a win over UIC's Amy Jellish. She will meet Wisconsin's Erin Jobe in the quarterfinal round.
Babina, also competing at the fourth singles flight, picked up a win over a Big Ten Conference opponent. She downed Minnesota's Mikayla Rogers by identical 6-3 scores, and will face UIC's Christina Oum in quarterfinal-round play.
The doubles team of junior Jenna Nussbaum and sophomore Kelsey Jakupcin, competing at the top flight, downed both a UIC duo and a Minnesota tandem to advance to the semifinals, before falling to Indiana State's Migan and Schickerling by an 8-4 outcome in that semifinal round.
The Wildcat Invitational continues on Saturday (Oct. 7), with the day's action beginning at 9:00 a.m. locally (10:00 a.m. Eastern).
