"I want to thank Coach Wells, Coach Roberts and Sid Sink for this opportunity. I am very excited about being a part of the BGSU Track and Field staff and coaching at the Division I level again," said Justin Carvalho. "From the first moment I arrived on campus I knew this was the place I wanted to be. I really wanted this job and I look forward to working with the athletes and continuing Bowling Green's tradition of producing great throwers for years to come."
Carvalho was not only successful as a hammer thrower but very successful at weightlifting. While at Sacramento State, he helped his team to three national championships and was a three time All-American in the heavyweight class as well as the 1998 National Champion. He qualified for two USA National Championships in weightlifting in 1999 and 2000, finishing sixth in 1999.
