BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University volleyball team announced their lone signee for the 2007 season, Samantha Fish, a setter from North Branch High School in Michigan.
Fish was named to the second team All-State Class A as a junior (missing first team by one place) after compiling 1,283 assists, 310 kills, 228 digs and 163 service aces. She has led North Branch to a 116-16-5 record over the last two seasons. Will play for Michigan Elite's 18 National Team for the 2007 club season.
"We're excited to have Sam in the program," said Head Coach Denise Van De Walle. "Losing Chrissy (Gothke) will be a huge loss for us, so we wanted someone with a lot of setting experience already. Sam has that. She has been setting for a long time. Both of her parents are her high school coaches and both went to BGSU, so it's neat that she's keeping it in the family. She is a great student, also, which is very important to me. Sam is an intense competitor and always seems to find a way to win. With everyone coming back except Chrissy, we'll want and need that in our '07 setter. "
