Five Volleyball Players Earn All-MAC Honors

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Senior Chrissy Gothke along with four of her teammates received All-MAC honors following the 2006 season. Gothke, Junior Stephanie Swiger and Sophomore Kendra Halm were named First Team All-MAC with Junior Madeline Means grabbing Second-Team honors. Freshman Corey Domek was placed on the All-Freshman squad.
Gothke steered the Falcons high powered offense and their .267 hitting percentage with 12.18 assists per game. The Whitehouse, Ohio native chipped in 185 kills of her own as well while posting a .320 hitting efficiency. She showcased her versatility with a pair of triple doubles and falling just one dig shy of recording a third. Gothke added 313 digs as well this season.
Swiger's .297 hitting percentage and 1.21 blocks per game both ranked fifth in the conference. Swiger blasted 335 kills and 127 blocks in the '06 campaign. She racked up 18 double-digit kill efforts, including a 19-kill performance against #19 Ohio on Oct. 26th. Her most impressive performance may have been against Kent State as she compiled 12 kills and eight blocks in a three-game contest.
Halm paced the entire conference with 1.49 blocks per game, leading the Falcons to a conference-best 2.93 team blocks per game average. The Bucyrus, Ohio excelled on the offensive side of the net as well, hitting .301 (fourth best in MAC) with 312 terminations. In the MAC semifinal match against Toledo, she set a MAC Tournament record with 12 rejections.
Means was a very versatile player for the Falcon's this season. She recorded nine double-doubles in kills and digs throughout the year. In a three-game sweep over Ball State, Means racked up 19 digs, good for over six digs per game. She contributed at the net as well, picking up 52 blocks.
Domek burst onto the collegiate scene in a big way, stringing together 10 consecutive matches with at least 11 kills to begin her career. For the season, Domek stockpiled 313 kills, 64 digs and 42 blocks while hitting at a .247 pace.
