OPENING STATEMENT
"I thought it was a tough game for us to play and not get anything out of it. It's obvious that we're having a tough time scoring goals against some pretty good goalies. I thought he [Jakaitis] made some key saves in the second period to keep it 2-1 and a few in the third. Both teams did good things and they got some power play goals that we were unable to get."
What did you like about the game tonight?
"In a lot of stretches we finished checks and had pressure creating some chances. I like that we got rebounds, but we need to be more creative on how we put the rebound back up on a goalie as good as Jakaitis."
Can you talk about how Jakaitis controlled the puck?
"He did a pretty good job. There were some rebounds down there, but he has a tremendous knack of finding loose pucks and getting the rebound chances. He's made a lot of saves in his career and his save percentage is outstanding."
What about Lake State's defense?
"They do a good job of cheating down in the neutral zone. It forces you to put more pucks in safe areas along the wall to get loose pucks. There were times when we were successful at that. Even though we're not having a lot of power play opportunities, that we were still able to generate some pretty good offense."
How does it feel to play pretty well and come up empty?
"Both teams battled. I thought we played like we deserved to win, but didn't get the bounces. Special teams took it too us a little bit, but overall I thought both teams played well and deserved to win. It was a pretty exciting game and a good fan game tonight."
How does it effect your team when you're not scoring goals?
"It's tough when things aren't rolling for you. I think with the team we have this year that we'll catch a bounce and things will start steam rolling for us. We'll just keep working hard and hopefully we'll start get it going."
What kind of difficulties did you have playing against the Laker defense?
"They have a pretty good defense. They are good with their sticks. We are a good skating team. I think we have to take advantage of that, and try to beat them wide and keep our feet moving with hard work. That's what it takes to get a win."
How did you think the power play was tonight?
"I thought we moved the puck well, but you have to get those shots through to the net. That's what it takes to score is getting shots on net and looking for the rebound. You can't be looking for the pretty back door play all the time. I think that's what it is going to take to get the power play clicking."
How about the play of your goalie tonight?
"I thought he played well tonight. He made the saves that he could see. A couple of those goals are well screened and got by him. He did his job and played well back there for us."
