Falcons in Cancun: Day Four

CANCUN, Mexico - The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team gave fourth-ranked Duke University a scare Tuesday night (Dec. 19), before the Blue Devils pulled out a 55-46 win. For the Falcons, however, there was little time to dwell on the game or think about what might have been.
BGSU became the first team this season to stay within fewer than 21 points vs. Duke, and the Falcons were the first opponent this year to hold a second-half lead against the Blue Devils. But, that game is over, and the BG players and coaches quickly turned their attention to Wednesday's (Dec. 20) game vs. Texas-Arlington.
After the Duke game, the Falcons had just over an hour to get something to eat and visit with family and/or friends before returning to work. BGSU had a Tuesday-night film session to discuss UTA, and the Falcons had another film session and a shootaround on Wednesday morning.
Sophomore Lindsey Goldsberry had career-high totals of four three-point field goals and 12 points in the Duke game. During the walk from the court back to her hotel room after the shootaround, Goldsberry shared some of her thoughts from the Cancun trip and the Duke game...

"Our trip has been amazing so far. The weather has been awesome, and it has been a lot of fun. It would be even more fun if we had beaten Duke last night, but we gave it our all, and I think people will notice that score.
"I felt like we all did a good job of making the extra pass and finding the open player against Duke. A couple of times, I happened to be that player. I just tried to get open, and into a position where my teammates could get me the ball, and they did a great job.
"It was a lot of fun. We gave it our all, because we knew it would be a very tough game, but it was a lot of fun for me. I played with Alison Bales when we were young. She and I grew up together, and our families know each other. We were on an AAU team together when I was nine and she was 10, and then we played on rival schools in high school, so it was fun playing against her and her team. Again, we wanted to get the win, but I feel like we also earned a lot of respect last night.
"As I said, it was a lot of fun to play against Alison and against Duke last night. We know, though, that the Duke game is over. After the game last night, we knew we had to put that behind us right away, because we play another great opponent in Texas-Arlington today. Coach Miller said that they are a big-time team, they are going to be at the top of their conference at the end of the season, and they are going to be ready for us, so we need to be ready for them."
