The Game
The game was tied nine times and there were nine lead changes.
BGSU scored the first five points of the game and led 21-10 with 10:36 to go in the first half on a jumper by sophomore Brian Moten, who scored 10 first half points.
The Falcons led 29-22 with 5:32 to go in the half, but UWGB scored six straight points on free throws to make it 29-28 with 3:50 to go.
The game was tied 33-33 at halftime. BGSU shot 63.6% in the first half, but UWGB turned nine offensive rebounds into 10 points and were 15-17 from the line compared to two of three for the Falcons.
BGSU's biggest lead in the second half was at 40-37 on a layup by senior Martin Samarco with 17:04 to go.
The game was tied 48-48 when UWGB went on a 9-0 run to lead 57-48 with 5:26 left in the game.
The Falcons went on a 7-0 run when Samarco drained a three-pointer (5:09) and made two of three free throws (4:11). On the miss on the third shot, sophomore Nate Miller got the offensive rebound and found freshman Ryan Sims in the corner who drove the baseline for the layup (4:07) to make it 57-55.
After Ryan Evanochko missed a free throw, junior Ryne Hamblet had a chance to tie the game but missed a five-foot runner.
Trailing 60-57, Miller made a jumper with 1:01 to go to cut the lead to one point. The Phoenix worked the shot clock and Evanochko, who was two for 16 from the field at the time, drained a three-pointer with 26.9 seconds to go to make it a two possession game.
Moten's 30 footer at the buzzer cut the lead to 60-57.
UWGB now leads the series 4-1 and is 3-0 against the Falcons in Green Bay.
With only the Bracket Buster (February 17) remaining, BGSU finished pre-conference play with a 9-4 record. BGSU begins the MAC schedule at home next Sunday at 2 p.m. against Buffalo.
The Falcons left via bus immediately after the game and arrived in Bowling Green at 6:30 a.m.
Division II Michigan Tech defeated Jacksonville State, 76-58, for third place in the event.
Player Plaudits
Moten was named to the All-Tournament team. He had 16 points against UWGB and 18 versus Jacksonville State. For the tournament, he averaged 12.3 points and made 14 of 19 field goal attempts (73.7) and five of seven three-pointers (71.4). In his last four games, Moten is shooting 16 of 22 from the floor (72.7).
Samarco scored a season-low 13 points, but still leads the MAC with a 21.1 points per game average. He averaged 16 points i the tournament.
Miller had nine points and seven rebounds. He is averaging 10.2 points and 7.6 rebounds in his five games with the Falcons.
Hamblet had five points, seven rebounds and four assists. He leads the MAC in assists at 4.6.
Radivojevic had six points and two assists.
Sophomore Brian Guerin had five points in the first half before getting into foul trouble. For the season, he has made five of seven three-pointers (71.4).
Freshmen Marc Larson and Otis Polk each played 10 minutes. Larson had a basket. For the season, they have combined to make 10 of 19 field goal attempts (52.2).
Sims scored his first basket since the Wright State game.
Senior Matt Lefeld made his only two field goal attempts.

BGSU is shooting 51.0 from the field in the last two games (50/98).
