Honegger, a native of Lafayette, Ind. (Jefferson H.S.), had a team-high 16.0 points per game as the Falcons swept a pair of contests last week to remain undefeated in MAC action. She shot a team-best 60.0 percent from the field on the week, including a 6-for-9 (66.7%) performance from three-point range.
Honegger had a game-high 18 points in the Falcons' 66-58 win over Northern Illinois Wednesday (Feb. 8), adding six rebounds and a pair of blocked shots. In BGSU's 72-60 win at Ball State Saturday (Feb. 11), she had 14 points and game-best totals of five blocks and four steals.
In that Ball State game, Honegger's blocks total set a BGSU season high, and was just two away from her own school single-game record. Honegger displayed her versatility with a perfect 3-for-3 afternoon from beyond the arc.
On the season, Honegger is averaging 13.5 points, 7.7 rebounds and a BG-best 1.8 blocked shots per game. In addition to blocks and rebounds, she also leads the Falcons in three-point field goals made, with 40, and is second in steals (1.5 spg).
Honegger picked up this week's MAC Player-of-the-Week honor for the East Division, while Eastern Michigan's Ryan Coleman earned the West Division honor.
Honegger's award marks the fifth time a Falcon has earned league P-O-W honors this year to date. Honegger also picked up the award on Nov. 28, while classmate Ali Mann was the league's player of the week on both Dec. 12 and Jan. 16. Sophomore Kate Achter earned last week's East Division honor.
The Falcons of head coach Curt Miller are 20-2 overall and 11-0 in MAC play, heading into Wednesday's (Feb. 15) game at Akron. Tipoff for that contest is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Then, BGSU returns home for a Saturday (Feb. 18) game vs. Buffalo, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Saturday's game is the first half of a hoops doubleheader at venerable Anderson Arena, with the BG men hosting Wright State at 3:30 p.m.
