BG Heads to Kalamazoo, Mich

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team will travel to Kalamazoo Mich, Sunday afternoon to square off against Mid-America Conference leaders Western Michigan University. The meet is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. inside University Arena.
Last Weeks Action Against Ball State and Michigan State
Last week the Falcons finished third out of three teams. Michigan State won the meet with a score of 191.025, Ball State took second with 187.875 and BGSU finished third scoring 183.625. Shinning in the loss was Bethany Kenel who posted the only top-five finish for the Orange and Brown, taking second on the beam (9.625).
Junior Allison Swafford also helped to lead the team finishing sixth on the vault (9.550), and tumbled her way to 10th on the floor (9.375). Jillian Stranges flipped to a 9.450 on the vault, and finished eighth on the beam with a 9.200. Last week was also Sranges' first time competing in the all-around.
A Look At The Western Michigan Broncos
The Broncos come into the meet with a 4-0 record in the MAC. Last week WMU beat Northern Illinois University 192.500-192.425. Leading the way for the Broncos was sophomore Courtney Lesson and freshman Casey McGranahan, who finished first on the vault with 9.775. Overall WMU finished the vault posting a career high 48.650. Senior Cherisse Marier was another top finisher for the Broncos with a season high 9.900 on the floor.
Schedule Reminder
After the meet against the Broncos the Falcons will make it a short week as they travel to Piscataway, NJ where they will take to the mats against Rutgers, RIU, and Towson State. The meet is scheduled for Saturday, February 25 at 7:00 p.m. They will then stay on the road to face MAC opponent Kent State. Finally on March 17 the Falcons will return home for their senior night verse Eastern Michigan at 7:00 p.m. inside the Eppler Complex.
