"At halftime, we talked about not having any flow in the first half. The fouls really disrupted the tempo of the game. So, in the second half, we just wanted to come out and keep trying to play pressure defense and get deflections. Our defense always helps our offense."
(On the play of the BG bench)
"They were awesome in the first half. I don't know how many minutes I played, personally, but it wasn't very many. But, I have a lot of confidence in my teammates to come in off the bench and get it done."
BGSU SOPHOMORE GUARD KATE ACHTER
(On her game-high total of 11 rebounds)
"I noticed, when we were watching film (of Buffalo) that they send their point guard back on defense on shots. So, with all the good box-outs that our post players and wing players had, it opened up the floor and allowed me to chase down all those long rebounds. And, there's a little bit of luck in there somewhere, too. But, I give our post players a lot of credit for their positioning and hard work to allow me to get those long rebounds."
(What was the difference in the second half?)
"I think that we stopped fouling, which was huge for us. In the first half, I don't even know how many fouls we had, but we were in the double-bonus early. They were in foul trouble, too, and their top-three players were out of there for some stretches. We knew we didn't play our best, and we knew that we couldn't get the flow of the game going if we kept fouling. Once we stopped fouling, we were able to get moving on offense, and pick up the tempo. Things just flowed from there."
BGSU HEAD COACH Curt Miller
"I think our team, and certainly our coaching staff, was embarrassed by our first-half performance. Clearly, there was no flow to the game; both teams fouled entirely too much. That really disrupted both teams, and we both really struggled in the first half. In the second half, we really played some good basketball and got up by 25. Even though we couldn't sustain that lead with our bench players in there, we can look back at the last 20 minutes of play and take away more positives than the first 20 minutes."
"In the first half, because of all the stopping and starting and the foul trouble, both teams had to go with different lineups. Their star player, Heather Turner, wasn't in very much. Brooke Meunier is one of the best seniors in the whole league, and she only played four minutes. Liz played just four minutes in the first half, so both teams were playing with different combinations of players, and no one really ever got into the flow. The play was very ragged for both teams."
"When both teams were able to keep from fouling in the second half, it got to be a very exciting, up-tempo game. I thought both teams made good plays, it got the crowd more into it, and it was just much more smoothly played."
(On being ranked in the Top 25)
"We're excited to get the win and be 22-2, and the most important thing is that we have a three-game lead (in the East Division) with three games to go. The goal, first and foremost, for this team is to win the MAC East. The ranking is nice, in terms of getting recognition for our program and for our league, and we are honored. There have been At halftime, though, I told them that we weren't playing like a top-100 team, let alone a top-25 team. But, I thought our kids showed a lot of character. I was disappointed with our effort, with the opportunity to play in front of a great crowd, and if you were to ask our players, I'm sure they were equally disappointed, but they showed good character in responding in the second half."
