BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - For the second consecutive week, the Bowling Green State University women's basketball team is ranked 25th in the USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Coaches Poll. The Falcons earned 68 points in this week's poll (released Tuesday, Feb. 21), up from 33 points last week.
BGSU trails #24 Utah by 33 points in this week's poll. The Falcons' appearance in last week's (Feb. 14) poll was BG's first since March 15, 1994. The Falcons appeared in the USA Today poll in three consecutive weeks in March of 1993, peaking at #20, and the lone poll appearance in March of 1994 saw the Brown and Orange ranked 24th.
This week's ranking marks only the ninth week in MAC history that a league institution has been listed in the USA Today poll, and BGSU has been the team in six of those nine weeks.
The Falcons, 22-2 overall and 13-0 in MAC play, host Kent State Wednesday night (Feb. 22) in a 7:00 p.m. start at venerable Anderson Arena. 'The House That Roars' will start roaring a little earlier than usual on Wednesday, as the game marks 'Senior Night' at Anderson. The two seniors in the program, Jill Lause and Casey McDowell, will be recognized in ceremonies prior to tipoff.
