CLEVELAND, Ohio - Quoting the players and coaches after the Bowling Green State University women's basketball team's 68-46 win over the University of Toledo Friday afternoon (March 10) ...
Bowling Green Head Coach Curt Miller
"We're excited to move into the championship round; this was a great win for us today. Certainly, going into the game, we thought the key tonight would be getting the game up-tempo and running, with Toledo playing their third game in seven days. That came true. Our transition was terrific today. We used our bench liberally in the first half; we tried to stay fresh and keep running. I absolutely think the difference was our transition game."
On having assists on 77 percent of BG's baskets
"I think that was a key statistic today. That's impressive when 20 out of your 26 baskets are assists. The team committed to making the extra pass today. We watched games on film, we thought we got the penetration in recent games but we didn't make the extra pass and we did that today."
Toledo Head Coach Mark Ehlen
"Good ole' butt whuppin' -- they took advantage of all mistakes we made, and that's what good teams do. They struggled a bit (Wednesday), I was hoping they would save some of that for today. They played well today; people don't give them enough credit for their team defense."
On BGSU's defense...
"First of all, they play well together, Its hard to pick your poison, we came into the game to mix up some defenses. We thought earlier in the game we played well, I was more concerned about the offense. Coming in we wanted to make sure we guarded the inside, if they were gonna beat us I wanted it to be outside. I wasn't worried about Liz out there I was worried about their easy inside baskets."
